Have you ever been standing in line at the grocery store and looked over to see a magazine with a beautiful beach on the cover? It’s cold and you think, “Hey, it would be nice to be there right now.” You pick it up and look it over briefly before it’s your turn to check out. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to plan a vacation while sitting on the couch watching television? The good news is, you can search top luxury travel destinations right from your smart phone. We are going to talk about the top three apps for doing just that in today’s article.

The first app we are will rave about is Jetsetter. In this app, the moment you open it you will see beautiful, exotic locations. Jetsetter writers have traveled to many of the places listed within the app and each destination will be stamped with either verified or approved. Verified means they’ve actually been to the destination and loved it while approved means that it meets Jetsetters high standards. The application itself is downloadable for iPhone or Android and is a free app. It is easy to use and has great descriptions for all destinations so you can get a good idea as to what your luxury stay will be like when you arrive.

Up next is Luxe City Guides. Another free app available for both Android and iPhone that has some awesome features. This is more for booking hotels and taking tours when you get to your destination whereas Jetsetter will cover everything from flight and hotel to tours and rental cars. Luxe City Guides has the option for offline, roaming charge free maps, which is great when you are visiting another country. When you download the app, you will have to provide your email address and password to register for the site, which is not the case with Jetsetter. Before you can browse, Luxe requires you set up a profile, which takes less than a minute. Once you’ve entered the necessary information, you will have instant access to their site. Now, Luxe only has twenty-five destinations on their site, but they include Amsterdam, Dubai and Paris to name a few. When clicking on one of the destinations, you have access to a ‘free preview’ or you can pay to get full access to the site. The charge for this premium guide is 9.99 per destination. However, the free guide has quite a bit of information in it including the ability to book your hotels and tours. Overall, this is a pretty great app considering its limitations.

The last app we are going to talk about today is Zagat. This app will help you find restaurants while you travel. It is a free app to download and if you allow it to access your location, it will automatically give you a list of restaurants nearby as well as ratings for the service and food. If you click on any restaurant, it will give you a description of the place and what kind of food/atmosphere you can expect. The app also gives you a map so you can see how to get there. As far as functionality goes, this app is incredibly easy to use. At the bottom of your smartphone, there is an icon to click for ‘city’s best’, which will take you to all of the top rated places near you. There is also an option to save your favorites making this app the app to use when it comes to finding a place to eat while on vacation.

Of all the travel sites you can look at, when combining Jetsetter, Luxe City Guides and Zagat, you will be set to take that luxury vacation you’ve been dreaming about since picking up that magazine. Between the three, you will have all you need to plan, book and take that vacation of a lifetime.
